You and I are all as much continuous with the physical universe as a wave is continuous with the ocean ~ Alan Watts

According to Tom Myers, author of Anatomy Trains, fascia is the biological fabric that holds us together, the connective tissue network. “We are about 70 trillion cells – neurons, muscle cells, epithelia – all humming in relative harmony. Fascia is the three-dimensional spider web of fibrous, gluey, and wet proteins that binds them altogether in their proper placement”.

When integrated with the understanding of the physical and energetic well-being of the body-mind, we are presented with choices to create our own healing to create homeostasis through a symbiotic relationship with our inner and outer environment.

Daphne has been bringing the study of movement and touch to life for over a decade. She has helped teachers and practitioners from yoga, dance, fitness, and bodywork backgrounds improve their teaching, enhance their personal practices, and provide better experiences for their students and clients. Cultivating sensory awareness, as well as embodying the knowledge of the human body-mind, will empower one to practice self-care effectively, and to also share this knowledge to others in meaningful ways.

This intensive introductory programme is a special opportunity to dive deep into sensory awareness and rediscover the foundation of movement and touch; and to restore organic fluidity in moving and being.

Each day of this intensive will include movement inquiry, meditation & breathwork, restorative & partner-work, hands-on repatterning techniques, as well as theory and discussion.

In this course, you will uncover in your body and teaching
  • Spatial medicine - the role of fascia in movement & touch
  • The qualities of fascia and how it applies to movement & touch
  • Fascia & the body-mind - proprioception, interoception, somatoception
  • The pathways of energy and weight transfers
  • The art of touch and repatterning
  • The interplay of the myofascial meridiens vis-à-vis their functions and qualities
  • The anatomy of breath through the myofascial pathways
  • How our nervous system shapes our connective tissues
  • Rehabilitation of chronic pain vis-à-vis the embodiment of spatial sense
  • Our body-mind’s relationship with gravity: yielding / propping / collapse
  • Balance as a dynamic state
  • Holistic functional integration of healthy movement patterns
  • The nuances of non-linear learning through equanimity ~ prescriptive alignment vs an inquiry into an experience that honours our unique blueprint
