Outta Hatha welcomes Sanna Kokkonen - full-time yoga instructor at Radiantly Alive, Ubud, Bali - for an afternoon of learning and practice in Singapore on Sunday 23rd April 2017, with two fascinating workshops - The Vital Psoas Muscle and Tibetan Heart Yoga.

Session 1: Sunday 23 April 1pm-3pm
The Vital Psoas Muscle
Why is your Psoas the most vital muscle in your body? If you have experienced lower back pains, it could have been a cry for help from your “unhappy” Psoas muscle.
In this workshop, we tune into the deeper body awareness of the psoas, also known as “The Muscle of the Soul”. We start with developing an understanding of psycho-emotional connections and look towards dramatically improving on related areas of physical and mental well being. We will learn about the benefits of a “happy” Psoas and the challenges and downsides connected with a tight or “unhappy” Psoas. Sanna will also share some techniques to tone/stretch/hydrate/relax the vital Psoas muscle.
This workshop is open to all levels. Come in soft, comfortable clothing. Bring your water bottle and perhaps a notebook and pen.
Session 2: Sunday 23 April 3.30pm - 5.30pm
Tibetan Heart Yoga
”If we learn to open our heart, anyone, including the people who drive us crazy, can be our teacher” – Pema Chödrön
Tibetan Heart Yoga emphasizes the meditative and spiritual aspects of yoga, the “inner practices”, as being of equal importance as the physical yoga postures, “outer practices”. The aim of this workshop is to offer the tools to open up our heart center for a deeper connection with our self, and with others.
We’ll be playing with some gentle – yet fun – partner yoga. We’ll be chanting, applying various powerful concentration and meditation techniques, and exploring our breath. Suitable for all levels, no limitations!
Price per session (2hrs): S$60
Full immersion price (4hrs - two sessions): S$100
About Sanna Kokkonen
Sanna is a full-time yoga teacher at Radiantly Alive, Ubud and holds Yoga Alliance E-RYT 500. She has been fascinated with the human body, both the physical body and the mind, ever since she first started to exercise as a young girl. When she began to teach aerobics, pilates & fitness in Finland in the 1980s, she got to observe how a heavy emphasis on “doing the body” rather than “listening to the body” negatively impacted the way that people related to their own bodies. She witnessed many students getting “fit & fab” on the outside, yet experiencing discomfort and pains which show up in nasty ways - as lines of stress in their young faces & a loss of joy in their practice and life in general. Sanna’s own awakening to her Psoas muscle happened through having too much going on in her life which manifested as a deep pain in her stomach and lower back. Sanna deepened her Psoas studies with the “Psoas –Guru” Liz Koch in London, UK July 2016. Sanna’s sincere wish is to help others to find the connection between the emotional and physical body in order to live healthier, happier, fuller life in this body. Sanna is certified in “The Principal Teachings of Buddhisim” by the Asian Classiscs Institute, Singapore (the lineage of Geshe Michael Roch) and is authorised to teach Tibetan Heart Yoga by her Guru Lama Marut. She has ongoing studies with her Lama in the Tibetan Buddhism & Asian Spiritual Classics. Check out an interview with Sanna here. You can also find her profile here. |
