Outta Hatha Yoga Presents

Yin Yoga Immersion: Neck, Shoulders & Upper Back
with Teresa Richard

Sunday 20 Oct 2019
12.30pm-3.30pm, 4.30pm-7.30pm

Venue:
Yoga In Common
22 Petain Road, Singapore 208095
near Farrer Park MRT

We are hosting Teresa Richard (Kshama Yoga) on Sunday 20th October for a comprehensive upper-body Yin Yoga immersion.  We commonly hold tension in our neck, shoulders and upper back -- due to anatomical constitution, postural habits or even our state of mind. Self-awareness and proprioception are key to identify how to unravel and soften into these target areas. In this practical one-day immersion, split in two sessions, Teresa will guide you to explore solutions through a well-supported, holistic and embodied Yin Yoga approach.

This immersion is suitable for everyone -- useful for self-practice as well as for those who teach. Functional anatomy and biomechanics applied in the Yin Yoga context will lay the foundation of our journey towards greater ability to engage or soften our tissues accordingly to our needs in the neck, shoulders and upper back regions.

Program description:

Part 1: Upper Body Support and Awareness
20th Oct Sunday 12.30pm-3.30pm
In the first session we’re invited to awaken and fine-tune our sensorial connection with different areas of the upper body and its relationship and interaction with other parts -- from a functional anatomy approach. We will use different yoga techniques and props to build the support and develop the awareness that can guide us through a sustainable journey.

Part 2: Upper Body Release and Surrender
20th Oct Sunday 4.30pm-7.30pm
In the second session we are encouraged to surrender, allow the zone to soften and experience deep release. We will break down the upper body Yin Yoga asanas, variations and propping - before entering a full experiential practice.  We will also explore our postural patterns and discover new habits that we can employ in our daily lives.

Continuing Education Units (CEU) applies for existing yoga instructors who attend both sessions (6hrs CEU) with option for an additional non-contact 4hrs (i.e. total of 10 hrs CEU) if you complete a set of post-training assignments provided by Teresa at the end of the course.

About Teresa Richard (Kshama Yoga) Leading a nomadic life, teaching and living “wherever she lays her mat”, Teresa is a 500h YA certified teacher in Hatha and Yin although Ashtanga has become her main practice. Originally from Spain and curious by nature, she integrates into her practice and teaching different techniques she has learnt from many great teachers she follow in her travels: from somatic movement and anatomy to Eastern philosophy, massage and Reiki.

She sees Yoga as individual experience. She aims to guide and encourage every student to find their own path and practice. Yin Yoga, her other main practice, which she finds a great way to reconnect with body awareness, sooth the mind and balance any active practice, was key in her recovery from breast cancer surgery in 2014. Trained in Yin by Jo Phee and Joe Barnett, she assisted Jo in two of her Spine, Fascia and MFR TTC modules in Auckland 2017 and Berlin 2018 and has just led a practical oriented 50h YTTC in Guatemala last July.
She breaks down techniques with grace and a down-to-earth sense of humour making them accessible and useful, allowing the practitioner to enjoy and understand the practices and other teachers to be comfortable facilitating them.
